Turning Your Passions to Profits
Do you raise sheep or alpacas and spin your own yarn? Maybe you love to knit or crochet or even make your own soap or natural beauty products. If you are a crafty person or produce any type of product to sell, you’ve probably thought of having your own store. My friend, Julie Petty of Alpaca Meadows, has written a great blog posting about how to set up a farm store, which was also published in Oho Alpaca Magazine. She covers setting up an online store, going on the road to events and farmer’s markets, and having a brick and mortar store to sell you crafts.
Julie raises alpacas and spins and dyes her own yarn, which she sells via her website and online stores like Etsy.com and her own farm store. She offers lots of first hand advice to help you get started at turning your craft or product into profit.
I’ve purchased yarn produced by Julie’s alpacas and I love buying a beautiful yarn like this direct from the farm and the person who spun and dyed it. If you haven’t tried knitting with alpaca yarn, I can highly recommend Julie’s Alpaca Meadows yarn.
