I found a simple lacy scarf pattern which incorporated beads into it. Here’s the pattern I used and the resulting lacy beaded scarf.
These pieces will make my freeform knitted baby blanket. Since I recently found out my daughter is having a girl, I can go with more pink now.

I discovered a great book with dozens of patterns for just one skein of yarn. It includes several specifically calling for alpaca yarn and many patterns look easy enough for someone just learning to knit.
