New and Free Knitted Dishcloth Patterns – 2011
It’s been a while since I gathered up some new knitted dishcloth patterns. 2011 was a great year for dishcloths and you can use them for much more than just washing dishes! Knit a dishcloth in pinks, blues or yellows an put a cute duck or teddy bear on it and it become a cute baby shower gift. I made one for my mom and instead of using it to wash dishes, she put it under a small flower arrangement and made a doily out of it. Knit several dishcloths and add them to a unique gift basket of kitchen or bathroom items
for a friend or loved one.
Ring in the New Year with this 2012 knitted dishcloth pattern by One Crafty Mama. Very cute. One Crafty Mama also offers many other wonderful dishcloth patterns, including some great ones for Halloween and Christmas.
There are some really pretty dishcloths on Sara vs Sarah. There is a basic pattern, plus tutorial, but the photos are show something other than the standard one color Sugar and Cream yarn. Use self-striping Sugar n Cream to shake things up. Then you can just do a basic pattern with no raised area and let the yarn do the talking. As Sarah says too, you can pretty much knit this type of dishcloth in the dark if you need to.
This Ramen Noodle Knitted Dishcloth is from Little House in the Suburbs, a blog I subscribe to and enjoy reading. This is a pretty pattern that would make a nice scarf, if you’re ambitious.
Here is a Waffle Pattern dishcloth from Homespun Living. Knitting a dishcloth is a great way to learn a new pattern, which you can then turn into a scarf or something bigger. My first baby blanket was simply an expanded dishcloth pattern.
If you’re looking for a project that might take you a year to complete, consider knitting a dishcloth for each state of the Union, plus Canadian provinces! Knitting Nonsense offers these patterns for the beginner. Here is my home state of Texas. This dishcloth would be a nice addition to other Texas items I’ve seen, from macaroni and cookie cutters in the shape of Texas to paving stones.
Designs by Emily offers several dishcloth knitting patterns for butterflies, ladybugs, ABC’s, maple leafs and more-all free downloads.
The Martini Knitter offers this unique dishcloth pattern for a martini glass with two olives. Cute!
