Simple scarf patterns with beads

follow lace pattern for a scarf which incorporated beads into it.

This is the basic pattern I’m using:

Use the size of knitting needles to fit yarn. I’m using #5 needles. You’ll also need about 400 yards of lace weight yarn and some size 6 beads.

The pattern suggested a large eye, flexible needle to thread the beads but I created my own needle on the end of my yarn by applying a thin layer of Elmer’s type glue to it and letting it dry. Once the glue hardens it gives you a “needle” and you can cut the end of the yarn at an angle to sharpen it. Then use this to thread your beads onto the yarn.

The pattern said to string on 1,000 beads and place them in the pattern with every yarn over. I just used about 400 size 6 beads, however, and randomly placed a bead in each row with one of the yarn overs.

After you string the beads, cast on 22 stitches - or more if you want a wider scarf.

PB  means to Place Bead. With your beads threaded onto the working yarn, bring the bead right up to sit next to the last worked stitch.

Gauge is not crucial to this project.

Adina’s website had 2 lacy patterns to use with beads and this is the one I chose.

Row 1) K3 “PB, YO, K2tog” to last two stitches, K1.
Row 2) Knit all stitches.

Repeat rows for pattern. When the scarf reaches the desired length, cast off and thread in the ends.
