Beautiful Knitted Prayer Shawl Pattern for Someone Special

This baby alpaca yarn is by Cascade Yarns and is 100% baby alpaca, made in Peru. There are 108 yards of yarn on a skein and I needed 7 for the prayer shawl project because I wanted a little larger size for extra warmth.

Before I can start this prayer shawl project, I have to finish Christmas presents and knit 2 baby blankets for a daughter who is due in February. I always like to have several knitting projects going at once though so I don’t get bored with any one. I can’t imagine getting bored working with this soft, beautiful baby alpaca yarn though.
There’s a great sense on anticipation in having a pile of very special yarn sitting there, waiting for a knitting project. I guess that’s why we all keep stashes – that sense of anticipation in buying it and gazing at it, thinking of the possibilities.
