A mobius scarf pattern is pretty easy to knit on circular knitting needles because when you cast on and then join the two ends together to knit in a continuous round, you simply add a twist to the yarn before joining.

I used this Chunky Mobias Cowl Pattern by Pixiebell at Etsy.com for my first knitted mobius because I really loved the look. It only cost $3 and I the stitch pattern is one I hadn’t used before so I learned something new by knitting it. I used less than one skein of Bernat Alpaca chunky yarn in Persimmon.
Since knitting this mobius pattern, I’ve been on a search for more patterns because these scarves are easy and quick to create and will make fantastic knitted gifts for friends. They make a beautiful knitted accessory for just about any outfit and, since I’m fairly certain that at some point the snow will melt and spring will come, I want to knit a few mobius scarves in lighter yarns so I can wear them in any season.
Here are some of the free mobius patterns I found and liked. Some seem kind of complicated and talk about “mathematics” - something I was never very good with. However, just think “continuous scarf with an added twist” and you’ll be fine.
There is more than one way to create the mobius twist. You can add it at the beginning or knit one long strip and twist before joining the ends.

Love this mobius pattern from knitpics - It’s created by knitting one long piece and then adding the twist at the end and weaving the ends together.
Here’s a good basic knitted mobius pattern from planetshoup. Here’s her “Original Moebius Scarf Pattern.”
Lion Brand’s mobius scarf is also knitted as one long scarf and then a twist is added before ends are joined.
Here is a cool moebius knitting pattern by the Knitting Fairy using Voila yarn by trendsetter. This would make a wonderful scarf for an elegant evening out.
