My knitting blog has suffered the past couple of months but I have been crazily knitting lots of baby hats photo cocoon for babyand blankets for the two babies soon to be born in our family. I found a really unique knitted baby blanket cocoon for sale on Etsy.com recently. Someone was selling these knitted baby cocoons, which either can make a snuggy wrap for a baby or they can be used to photograph a baby, creating a very sweet picture.

The going rate to purchase a knitted baby cocoon was about $30-$35 so I decided to look for a pattern to knit one myself.

I found a pattern for the baby cocoon pictured here also through a store on Etsy called 4aSong. This pattern was only $4 and it’s fairly easy to make. The seller also sends a great tip sheet via email and I would highly recommend her. She also gives permission to sell your knitted baby photo cocoons if you’d like to make them for resale.

If you’re looking for certain patterns, I’d highly recommend looking at Etsy. It’s usually about $4-$5 for each pattern but you get personal help from the person selling it. The patterns come right to your email in a pdf file usually.

I also made a knitted baby hat to match the cocoon on my circular loom.

knitted baby blanket and hatBesides the baby cocoon, I also knitted another baby blanket and hat pictured here.

My daughter’s baby shower is this weekend so I wanted to have all these blankets and hats finished. Now I’m starting on baby number 2, besides knitting hats and scarves for Christmas.

Is it any wonder I’m knitting instead of blogging?

Update to this article: here’s a photo of another knitted baby photo cocoon I just finished. It’s made with Patons
