Happy Easter and a Visit to My Local Yarn Shop
Hope everyone had a very happy Easter. We spent the day with the kids and grand kids and it’s so much fun watching the little ones, running around the yard, searching for the eggs our daughter hid there earlier that morning. Lots of fun and too much candy but a very successful Easter egg hunt, all in all. We topped it off with a family brunch featuring a giant sized ham, luscious spring strawberries, grits casserole, biscuits and gravy and a decadent French toast casserole. Didn’t need to eat the rest of the day.

With Texas weather, you never know what you will get, but Easter morning was nice and sunny.
We’ve been helping one daughter move and my husband has been fixing things at the new house the past couple weekends so on Saturday, when I had to make a run to Lowe’s for plumbing parts (definitely NOT my favorite thing to do) I decided to treat myself ot a visit to the local yarn shop. I hadn’t bought any yarn lately and as you know, it becomes necessary to get a "yarn fix" to add to your yarn stash every once in a while. Since I’m currently knitting baby patterns and children’s hats, it doesn’t take much yarn to do a project, allowing me to try a skein here and there of more expensive yarn that is delightful to work with.
On this visit I bought some Stained Glass yarn by Ironstone Yarns, which is 100% rayon and absolutely beautiful, bright colors, and some Linea Pura yarn by Lanagrossia, a new yarn in the shop this spring. The Linea Pura is a blend of Organic soy, organic bamboo and organic cotton and feels so luxurious!
I’m combining the two into a knitted baby hat suitable for any celebrity child or my new granddaughter. I got both yarns in purple shades that are combining very well. If I love the hat, I may have to spring for enough to knit a scarf for myself in the future.
The other addition to my yarn stash is Kudo yarn by Plymouth Yarn, which is cotton, rayon and silk. I was going to make a hat for my 3 year old granddaughter with it, but the more I look at it, the more I think it will make a light spring scarf for me if I use a lacy pattern. Just because the weather is getting warmer, I don’t want to stop wearing my knitted scarves.
When I got back with the plumbing parts, the first thing my husband said was, “Took a detour by the yarn shop,
didn’t you?” Does he know me well or what?
