Forgive the bad pun but I’ve recently discovered felted bowls and just love them! I saw the one in the photo on

Etsy.com, along with other beautiful bowls. I haven’t tried felting before so this is now on my list of new techniques to experiment with.

The prices for bowls found on Etsy by this artist, juliepersons, are very reasonable if you’re looking for a unique Christmas gift. Such beautiful work is really inspiring.

If you’d like to try your hand at making a felted bowl and are looking for instructions on how to make one, here are some great links I found:

Thanks so much to these two bloggers for their helpful instructions.

Here’s another felted bowl pattern I found using the knifty knitter on LoomKnit.com. It’s knitted in a square and is really cute. You could probably expand it and make it bigger too.

Michael’s had a sale this weekend on Patron 100% Merino Wool which is feltable yarn.I got these 3 colors to try my hand- That is after I finish my other Christmas gifts!

As soon as I get these going, I’ll post the results.

I have a terrible habit of having about 3-4 projects going at once! I used to do that when beading and had little plates of beads piled around, all in various states of completion. I find I’m doing the same with knitting and the table beside my TV watching chair now has 4 different hats/scarves. But when I knit a gift, while I’m knitting, I’m thinking of the person who will receive it, I enjoy handling the yarn or working with a certain color, so it just depends on my mood of the evening which one I pick up.

Last night I went to my daughter’s house for a family party and wanted to take some knitting. For this, I had to obviously choose a project not destined for anybody there which meant I had to begin yet another scarf.

Oh well, eventually they do all get finished and I have a goal for the finishing date of all of them, which is Christmas.
