Baby hats knitted on circular loom my newest toy - the pom pom maker

I made these baby hats on the circular knifty knitter loom, using the blue one, which is recommended for baby hats. I hadn’t thought of adding pom poms to the top until

I visited my daughter and her new baby. I showed her how to use the knifty knitter loom to make hats and she decided to get a pom pom maker and try it. I liked the effect so much that when we got home, I got one of my own.

The Clover Pom Pom Maker is easy to use and only costs a few dollars. They come in various sizes and for this knitted hat, I used the yellow one. I tried a smaller size but liked the larger pom pom better.

it makes a cute accent. When you take you hat off the knifty knitter, you close the circle on one end and tie it tightly to create the top of the hat, then weave in the ends. To add the pom pom, I just left long strings when I tied it off, dropped the strings down the inside of the center circle on top of the hat and then wove in those ends, making sure the pom pom was secure.
